Time
Table
Every case is different and we have
no way of knowing how long it will take to complete your case, but the average time
for most cases in the foreign countries is:
-
Within twelve months of
our receipt of your home study and completed application, your child should be in
your home.
-
If you have not even started your home
study or filed with the U.S. Citizens and Naturalization Service (CIS), you must
count on three months preparation time to be "document ready" for a referral and travel.
|
Sometimes we will be able to offer
you a referral as soon as we receive your home study. Some countries require your
CIS approval to be in your court documents, other countries do not. This requirement
may affect the total time.
There are many other factors which
influence time, and in international adoption these factors are in a constant flux.
International politics can affect the processing time of a case. Right now there are
very good programs where you can get a referral (offer of a specific available child)
as soon as you have an approved home study.
